- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas and melted butter until well combined.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined. If using, fold in nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
