Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 egg
For the Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream (or sour cream)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Noodles:
- 8 oz egg noodles (or your choice of pasta)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice, and egg. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Cook the Meatballs:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and cook the meatballs in batches until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Gradually add the beef broth, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine Meatballs and Sauce:
- Return the cooked meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for an additional 5 minutes.
- Cook the Noodles:
- While the meatballs are simmering, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Serve:
- Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked noodles. Garnish with chopped parsley.
