- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Cinnamon Sugar:
- 2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar:
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
- Make the Churro Dough:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour until fully combined. The mixture will form a ball.
- Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Heat the Oil:
- In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe the Churros:
- Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Carefully pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) into the hot oil. Fry in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the Churros:
- Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Use tongs to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
- While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Serve:
- Enjoy your homemade churros on their own or with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping!
