Chocolate Heaven Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or milk, for a lighter frosting)

Optional Garnish:

  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles
  • Fresh berries

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

2. Make the Frosting:

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed.
  • Add salt, vanilla, and heavy cream. Beat on high speed for about 3 minutes until the frosting is fluffy and smooth.

3. Assemble the Cake:

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top.
  • Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  • Garnish with chocolate shavings or fresh berries, if desired.

4. Serve:

  • Slice and enjoy your Chocolate Heaven Cake!
