Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups milk
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened.
Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
Add shredded cheddar cheese to the milk mixture. Stir until melted and smooth.
Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce.
Spread half of the macaroni and cheese in a baking dish.
Top with sloppy joe mixture.
Cover with remaining macaroni and cheese.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes:
Add a sprinkle of extra cheese on top before baking for a cheesy crust.
