Ingredients:
°2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
°2 tablespoons white sugar
°(2) egg yolks
°½ cup milk
°½ tsp salt
°1 cup shortening
°(2) egg whites
°(9) apples peeled, cored and sliced
°¾ cup white sugar
°½ tsp ground cinnamon
°1 ½ cup icing sugar
°(1) pinch salt
°1 tsp vanilla extract
°3 tablespoons milk
* Methods:
Preheat oven about 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-13-inch baking pan.
Combine the flour, 2 Tbsp. sugar & salt in bowl. Cut the shortening until it looks like breadcrumbs. Add and mix egg yolks and ½ cup milk; stir into flour mixture.
Rolling half the dough on floured surface to size of the prepared pan. Covering inside of the pan with dough. Then spread with a light layer of egg white. Fill with slice apples and sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon on top. Roll out the remaining dough and place over the apples. Brush with a light layer of egg white.
In a preheated oven, cook for 35 to 40 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Beat the icing sugar, salt, vanilla and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Pour over cooled bars and cut into squares
